Definition please?

There are some fantastic resources out there for finding out what business analysis is about, I remember speaking at a “Women in non-traditional roles ” workshop, to a group of year 12 girls who had not idea what a Business Analyst did for a living. I suppose in retrospect, when I was their age I had no idea either.

Quote from wikipedia on how you might become a business analyst:
"Prerequisites
There is no defined way to become a business analyst. Often the BA has a technical background, whether having worked as a programmer or engineer, or completing a Computer Science degree. Others may move into a BA role from a business role - their status as a subject matter expert and their analytical skills make them suitable for the role. Business analysts may overlap into roles such as project manager or consultant. When focused on specific systems, the term Business Systems Analyst may be used."

I found this great FaceBook community page on Business Analysis as well, which has a about a thousand followers, but not as many an relatively unknown Italian Dj, Cristian Marchi.
Maybe social media is not the place to be professional?

I have set up my own “professional” facebook page, and intent to use only for career and professional links and keep it separate from my personal link .In saying that I may have some old friends that may also have been co-workers, so they won’t be excluded from joining my professional alter ego.

I think social media can be a good place for professional relationship and networking avenues, I’ll have to try and prove this idea, but will still "like" social stuff like Cristian-Marchi, and see where it leads in terms of my own popularity?

What makes good Business Analysis?

Each skill when done well is becomes an art, as it moves away form theory and
methodology and becomes an organic skill a person develops.

I propose to discuss this topic, using my own skills, as well as drawing on others experience, and put forward real life case studies, highlighting tools and techniques used to achieve a goal.

The aim is to demonstrate like in any art form, practice makes perfect.
